The PLANPAC Group and Shanghai General Metal Structure Engineering Co are in joint venture to deliver architectural, urban planning and project management services with the added value of structural design and steel fabrication into the Australian construction market. Shanghai General Metal Structure Engineering Co - GMS - owns and operates 17 steel fabrication plants in 13 Chinese provinces. The JV with PLANPAC is formalised with agreements signed in Townsville and Shanghai by PLANPAC Group Chairman Geoff Plante and GMS President Zhu Rou Lan.

GMS has operated within China for 19 years with the values of honesty, realism, creativity and diligence. Corporate certificates include State Housing Construction, Furnishing and Decoration, Mechanical and Electrical Equipment Installation, Steel Structure Design and Building Design. These certifications license GMS for comprehensive planning, design, fabrication and erection activity. GMS awards include Golden Steel Prise for Shanghai metal construction projects 1996-2001 with Special Honour 2001. GMS has ISO 9001 certification.
